Despite the rather blustery conditions, there was a good turn out at Sidmouth Tennis Club on Saturday for the Davis Cup celebration event, writes Kate Truman.
Morning coaching sessions for juniors had a competitive Great Britain and Belgium theme following which, around 25 adults enjoyed a lung-busting cardio tennis work-out organised by club coaches Sue Wiltshire and Daryl Bass before settling down to watch the nail-biting Davis Cup men’s doubles final live on screen in the clubhouse.
It was a hugely enjoyable event, topped off, of course, by a fantastic win from the Murray brothers.
Thanks go to Sue and Daryl for organising the event and to club member Debbie Snelgrove for an impressive batch of hand-made Union Jack cupcakes which sustained everyone throughout the day!
