Great Britain will play their first Davis Cup final since 1978 when they take on Belgium in Ghent from November 27-29, writes Kate Truman.

Andy Murray will be looking to lead the team to the title for the first time since Fred Perry did so in 1936. The British team’s achievement is a rare event and one which Sidmouth Tennis Club feels is worthy of celebration! As such, club coaches Sue Wiltshire and Daryl Bass are organising a Davis Cup afternoon at the club on Saturday, November 28, which will be open to both members and non-members.

The afternoon will kick-off at 1pm with a free 45 minute cardio tennis session following which there will be an opportunity to stay on court and play some friendly tennis and/or to watch the Men’s Davis Cup doubles match which will be televised live from 2pm on a big screen in the club house. The bar will be open for refreshments throughout the afternoon.

The event promises to be a fun and exciting celebration of British tennis and the Club looks forward to welcoming all who wish to join in.
