Sidmouth Tennis Club welcomes new coaches

Sidmouth Tennis Club is delighted to welcome Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) level three coaches Sue Wiltshire and Daryl Bass as new club coaches following the departure of Mike King to North Devon.
The pair have lined up an extensive programme of coaching – from tots and mini-tennis through to juniors, teenagers and adults – and will be supported by local level two coach, Jake Harrison, who is already an active member of the club.
Sue and Daryl are no strangers to Sidmouth, having first set up and run a coaching programme at the club back in 2009 before moving on to pursue other coaching interests in the South West.
Commenting on the new appointment, Sue said: “Daryl and I are pleased to be back at Sidmouth. Our initial aim is to gradually build up the junior base skills and run mini tennis and junior/teenager coaching alongside the existing adult programme. Looking ahead, we are also keen to have a balance of coaching, matchplay, competition, local coach development (as well as budding tennis assistants) and more involvement with the local schools.”
Club Secretary, Di Kendall-Tory said: “We’re very excited to have Sue and Daryl on board. The club has had an excellent year with Mike as coach, with all adult league teams performing well and a strong junior contingent who are now beginning to participate in some of the adult league matches. Sue and Daryl have the necessary experience to help our club consolidate and improve as well as provide an enjoyable introduction to tennis for beginners and improvers, both adults and juniors, who may wish to join the club.”
Sidmouth’s autumn coaching programme begins this Saturday (September 5), with sessions running on weekday evenings and at weekends, and are open to both members and non-members.
