There was a brace of success for the Sidmouth men’s B and the ladies B team last week, writes Kate Truman.
The men’s B entertained Teignmouth who returned to South Devon beaten 6-4. It was a welcome success for the home side who had suffered a couple of defeats previously.
Captain Bob Hefill played with Freddie Dawes, whilst youngsters Jonny Surtees and Sam Marriott made up the second pairing. Teignmouth, too, were playing three youngsters, making for a lively and energetic match and a quick post-match supper, with cream scones and pasties wolfed down in five swift minutes!
Meanwhile, the ladies’ B continued their winning streak with a comfortable 8-0 home win against Kingsteignton.
The regular pairings of Marlene Maynard and Jackie Ensall and Vici Topping and Kate Truman have produced some consistency this season and the team remain hopeful of finishing within the top two of the division to secure a promotion to Division Four next year. However, much will depend on the result of next week’s match against Tiverton!
