Sidmouth thirds completed the 2018 Tolchards Devon League season as the F Division East champions and they did it in style winning all their home games and suffering just two defeats, losses at Seaton on May 26 and at Bradninch on June 23.

However, on their adopted ‘home’ ground at Newton Poppleford, they saw off all comers throughout the season.

So who were the individual stars of the title-winning campaign?

In terms of the team’s bowling throughout the league campaign, Jordan Fowler comes out clear top with his 26 wicket hauling meaning that the teenager claimed 25 per cent of all the wickets the third XI took during the season.

The most economical of the bowlers was Lee Clayden, who ended the season with an economy rate of 3.03, fractionally better than the 3.08 return of Fowler.

Young Fowler did not quite achieve the best bowling average though as, he was pipped to that particular accolade by the evergreen Graham Munday who bagged his 14 wickets at a cost of 15.29 runs each – the Fowler return was 16.27 for each of his wickets.

Second, in terms of wickets taken for the team, was Wesley Holmes, who bagged himself 17 wickets in the campaign and the others to claim 10 or more wickets were; Graham Munday (14), Lee Clayden (12) and Toby Seldon (11).
