Sidmouth IIIs made it three wins from three F Division East matches when they put Braunton 2nds to the sword at Newton Poppleford, using only half of their 40 overs to register a seven wicket success.

Batting first, Braunton had runs from their number one and three batsmen – 83 between them – but that was as good as it got as they were restricted to a closing total of 127-8 in their 40 overs.

Jordan Fowler led the bowling honours with figures of 3-19 from seven overs and there were two wicket hauls for both Jash Patidar (2-28 from eight) and the evergreen Graham Munday (2-13 from six) with a single wicket for Wesley Holmes (1-25 from seven).

The run chase proved something of a formality as openers Thomas Moore and Jash Patidar took the score to 58 before Moore fell. Patidar was still there at the end, unbeaten on 70 having hit nine fours and one six. Dec Lines was trapped leg before for 13 and the only other wicket to fall was that of Byron Knowles, but not before the teenager had hit 40. It was left to Tom Wainwright (8no) to join young Patidar to see the game to its conclusion.

Sidmouth III travel to the only other unbeaten side in the section – Seaton – but they have only played one game as on the opening day they were set to play Alphington 2nds and on match day two scheduled opponents Shobrooke Park 2nds could not raise a side. They did get to play last Saturday and duly won, beating Honiton 2nds.
