A strong home performance from a rekindled Sidmouth third team was met by a well-rehearsed and in form Crediton side won the match 34-0, writes Scott Savage.

Sidmouth got off to a shaky start as a handling error allowed the pace outside for Crediton to run in an early, uncontested try. The rest of the half was spent camped in Crediton’s half due to strong defensive efforts from Liam Kubaczka, Mark Oke and Miles East.

Sidmouth got close a number of times, but couldn’t put together the final pass to get over the line, with strong runs from Kenton Mathys and Paul Harradence asking questions of the Crediton defence and half-time arrived with Crediton 12-0 to the good.

Ian West, Xavier and Bobby Crofts provided fresh legs for the second half which was a hard fought and sometimes scrappy affair. Late in the game Crediton’s greater experience shone through as they scored a further 22 points to seal a comprehensive victory.

With this season being a trial period for the resurrection of the Sidmouth Third team, continuity is the key and with only two games played this season huge advances have been made.

If the numbers remain and new players become interested in the cause Sidmouth are looking to grow and improve over the remainder of this campaign and into the next one.

They are back in action tomorrow (March 14) with a visit to Honiton. Players are asked to meet in the Lidl car park at 1.15pm. For more information call Ian West on 07738 666467.
