Sidmouth will meet Exeter at Torquay in the Bank Holiday Sunday final of the Tolchards Devon KO Cup.

That was the outcome of last weekend’s two Tolchards Cup semi-final matches.

First into the final were Exeter, who won by three wickets at Plymouth in their semi-final.

Plymouth recovered from 41 for five to make 197 for eight – and were grateful to Hal Kerton (26) and Rob Bennett (57) for a stand of 75 for stopping the rot.

Skipper Matt Hooper batted through for a unbeaten 42 as Plymouth set a total.

Pick of the bowlers by a distance was George Greenway with five for 49 from eight overs.

Exeter had to work for their runs with Gionne Koopman (2-27) hard to get away.

Miles Lenygon (48) and Steve Morris (50) got Exeter in sight and Zak Bess (32) nudged them closer.

Man of the match Greenway launched Bennett for six in the last over to win the game with three balls to go.

Sidmouth had a couple of overs to spare at Paignton, where they chased down 180 to win.

Zubyar Hamza with 57 top scored for Paignton – he and Peter Taylor (14) put on 56 for the first wicket – and Chris Kelmere weighed in with 30. Thirty-two extras (22 wides) helped.

Sidmouth were a nervy 89 for four in reply when Will Sobczak (65no) was joined by Greg Chaplin (33).

Their stand of 53 swung the game Sidmouth’s way.

There were two wickets each for Miko Esktrom (2-36) and Stephen George (2-43).
