Sidmouth Town were unfortunate not to get something for their efforts from yet another action packed Manstone Lane fixture, eventually going down 3-2 to Tavistock.

The Vikings promoted yet another of their Under-16 squad with the inclusion of Jamie Newberry and they also welcomed Aaron Doble for his first squad appearance of the season.

Against the run of play Sidmouth took the lead on the 10th minute when leading scorer Mark Pavey caught the visiting keeper by surprise with a well-placed 20-yard shot.

The visitors were quickly back onto the front foot, but found Vikings Charlie Ledger again in fine form.

The equaliser, when it arrived, did so in controversial circumstances! The Vikings back four pushed up well leaving a player well off-side, but the linesman’s flag did not get raised (he later apologised) and the goal stood! Just before the break an unmarked Dale O’donoghue put a close-range header over the bar.

Sidmouth started the second half well and deservedly regained the lead in the 60th minute with Ashley Small rifling a 30-yard strike beyond the keeper.

Ten minutes later the visitors were level again with a tremendous strike from fully 30-yards that gave Ledger no chance.

The wining goal came in the 78th minute, but again there was an element of controversy as the Tavistock player bundled into Ledger who clearly had both hands on the ball which fell invitingly for a simple tap-in!

The drama was not over for ten minutes from time Tavistock defender Ollie Archer fell awkwardly seriously injuring his back and he was taken to hospital.

Josh French emerged fro the game as the Vikings Man of the Match.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Town entertain third bottom Liverton who were beaten by basement side Axminster Town last time out.

Manstone Lane fans will surely once again be treated to a goal feast! The Vikings have played seven home games so in which 34 goals have been scored whilst Liverton’s four away games have so far seen 24 goals!
