Flamingos took on Weather Girls in the only game in division one of the Honiton Netball League looking to maintain their 100 per cent record this term and seal the top honour, writes Graham Ingram.

With Charlie Warwick playing well they raced into an 11-1 lead at quarter time and from there they never looked back.

Although the Weather Girls worked hard, with Sophie Littlejohn doing especially well Flamingos were always in control and their 40-11 win put them in an unassailable position and gave them the title once more.

In Division Two Hi Q duly wrapped up the top honour with a 17th success in as many outings, but they were made to work hard before seeing off JD Tyres 31-26.

It was the Tyres who got off to the best start with a 6-4 lead at quarter time. However, with Bev Parris having another good game the champions-in-waiting lead 17-13 at the half way mark.

With Amy Phillips urging them on JD went goal for goal with Hi Q in the third period to be 22-26 behind going into the final session. The final quarter was another close call with Hi Q holding on to win by 31-26.

Sidmouth Toucans had got off to a slow start this season, but they have finished the term in great form and bagged a ninth straight win to seal second place in the final table after a 32-17 victory over Howden Hawks.

Toucans started well and led 9-3 at quarter time, extending their advantage to 17-7 at half way thanks to good work from Anna Rowson.

Despite the efforts of Meg Falkner at centre for Hawks the Toucans continued to dominate and they finished the game strongly to ensure a place in the top division nets season.

For the third meeting in a row, Otter Valley dairy and Water Babes battled out a close encounter! Going into the contest with a win each in the previous meetings, it was Otter Valley who edged this one.

Charlotte Broom played well for Otter Valley Dairy, whilst Stacey Squires was in good form for Water Babes.
