Bad weather forced the Honiton Netball League off the outdoor courts and onto the indoor surfaces and just two matches were played as a result, writes Graham Ingram.

One of them saw Sidmouth Toucans consolidate their position at the top of the table with their second win from two games when they defeated Beer Blazers.

The game started evenly with Toucans just edging the first quarter by 6-5. In the second period Lucy Davis started to get Toucans moving and despite the best efforts of Frankie Hefferman for Beer, they began to gradually increase their lead so that going into the final quarter they led by 22-10, with the Blazers struggling to gain a point. It was not to be as Sidmouth took the three points from their 31-14 win.

JD Tyres have had a tough start in the second division and they were involved in the other match that was played when they met Blackdown, who had started with a victory in week one.

With Lucy Bandyszew playing well for Blackdown they started well, leading 9-4 at quarter time and 14-6 at half-time.

In the third period Tiff Munt led a JD fight back so that going into the final session they were 13-17 down. The final quarter was nip and tuck with JD outscoring Blackdown, but not by enough, as Blackdown finished winners by 20-17 to move into second place.
