Sidmouth Town AFC celebrated a successful season at their annual Club Presentation evening.
The event took place in the company of club president Stuart Hughes and the Tottenham Hotspur legend Steve Perryman.
During the season the Vikings first team finished mid-table in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Eastern Division whilst the second team won promotion in the Fresha Devon and Exeter Football League and the third team, made up of a mix of youth and senior stalwarts, played out a very respectable first season in the Fresha League. Town development officer Andy Argyle says: “The season’s results are completely due to the ‘week in - week out’ selfless efforts of the respective team managers and coaches who motivate and inspire the players to perform.”
As for the presentation, Argyle said: “The event brings together all the elements that contribute to making Sidmouth Town AFC a essential part of community life and thanks are due in no small measure to Gary Bargery, the event coordinator, Nick Gingell - MC on the night, Di Collings for the delicious food and Harrison-Lavers & Potbury’s, the main club sponsor. It was a terrific evening of wonderful speeches and laughter. Club officials, players and supporters enjoyed good food and great company as the awards were presented to outstanding performers on the pitch, team managers and those who work behind the scenes to make the Club what it is.”
