Sidmouth Town are hopeful that leading scorer Cameron Vere will be fit for the game at Bovey Tracey tomorrow (Saturday), writes Steve Birley.

The recent lack of action has not been as frustrating for Town manager Josh Stunell as one might think.

He explained saying: “It’s a case of every cloud having a silver lining for me. Yes, not playing can bring frustration, but equally the fact we have not been playing means the players that have knocks have that little bit longer to get back to fitness and I am very hopefully that Cameron (Vere) will be with us at Bovey.”

The Vikings were beaten 3-2 at home when the pair met at Manstone Lane in September. The outcome of that game still rankles with Stunell who says: “We still talk about that game. We led 2-0 at half-time and somehow managed to lose 3-2. It was one of those ridiculous games that haunts you for the rest of the season so this game gives us the chance to put the record straight.”

The trip to Bovey is followed by one to Okehampton the week after. Home games are something of a rarity at the moment for the Manstone Lane faithful with Town not due to be back at home until the February 13, meeting with title chasing St Martins. That will be two months and a day since their last home game – a December 12 meeting with Tiverton Town.
