Sidmouth Town entertain Appledore on Saturday (3pm) in a South West Peninsula League Eastern Division meeting

The Vikings were last in action when they were edged out by the odd goal in seven in the Good Friday local derby against Budleigh Salterton at Manstone Lane.

After that game Town boss Josh Stunell said: “The final score was disappointing for I felt we did enough to take something from the game. I don’t think conditions affected too much of the play, though both defences - and goalkeepers - clearly had a problem or two on the day!”

He continued: “Before our last three games, had anyone said we’d bank six points from them - trips to Ilfracombe and Bovey before the Groundhop game, I’d have been very satisfied with that return, which is just what we now have. It has helped make things a little more comfortable in terms of our league position.

“That said, there’s no escaping the fact this Saturday’s home meeting with Appledore is a big one. I see it as ‘must win’ for them [Appeldore] while it’s a game we do not want to be losing.”
