Sidmouth Town are in pre-season action tonight (Friday) when they entertain Western League Chard Town at Manstone Lane (7.30pm).
The Vikings have made a successful start to their first pre-season under new boss Richard Pears as they have already seen off Western League premier side Wellington (3-2) and then defeated Devon and Exeter League Premier Division outfit Feniton 5-2 last Friday night.
After the win over Feniton, a game in which the Vikings had trailed 2-1 with a quarter an hour to go, Town boss Pears said: βIt was a good test for us and I was pleased to finish the game like we did. This squad is shaping up nicely with new players on board mixed with local young players, who are game changers.β
Former Town skipper Jamie Newberry is the latest player to join former Vikings boss Joshua Stunell at Axminster Town. However, there has been a new signing with the arrival of Ashley Matthews from St Martins.
