Sidmouth Town boss Josh Stunell could not be happier with many aspects of his team’s pre-season work.

The Vikings chief is particularly pleased with the goalkeeping department, something he alluded to saying: “I honestly believe we have got two of the best goalkeepers at our level.

“Robbie [Powell] is back now having been away travelling and he has looked really good both on the training ground and in the friendlies while teenage glovesman Josh McLean has also looked the part and, to be honest, I’d have to say that the pair are neck-and-neck in terms of being in pole position to start the season as our number one and that is a very healthy position for any manager at any level – to have two such quality glovesman both at a level good enough to go into the first team and do a top notch job.”

Stunell, who takes Town to Okehampton Argyle on Saturday for the teams third and final friendly in July added: “We look to be developing a strong spine from goalkeeper right up the middle to centre forward and, if we can keep everybody fit, and perhaps add one or two more, then we can go on and have a successful season.”
