Sidmouth Town came back from two goals down to claim a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Liverton but the Vikings faithful will have journeyed home from South Devon feeling their side could, indeed should, have had more to show for another afternoon of dominance in front of the opposition goal, but without making their superiority tell.

Town boss Josh Stunell range the changes giving first starts this season to Riki Pitter and Nick Gingell.

The hosts were ahead before the Vikings management had settled into the dugout! A strike from fully 30-yards doubled the home advantage, but Town dug deep and the new-look midfield trio of Pitter, Doble and French seized control and it was no more than the Vikings deserved when Ashley Small played in Mark Pavey to fire home 10 minutes before the break.

The second half almost produced another lightning-quick score Pavey raced down the right wing and crossed to the unmarked Small. However, the former Sidbury United strike put his shot wide.

The equaliser arrived in the 65th minute when left back Cox ran onto a through-ball and powered a long-range shot that flew into the top right hand corner of the net.

The remainder of the game saw Town on the offensive. Skipper French, Small, Pavey and Isaacs all spurned chances to seal maximum points and the had it not been for a late super save by Charlie Ledger then Town might have returned to East Devon with less than the point they banked from another encounter they bossed for large periods, creating enough chances to win two or three games!

Sidmouth: Ledger, Cox, Newbery, Pidgeon, Gingell, Pavey, French, Small, Pitter, Doble, Thompson. Subs: Boyland, Isaac and Ogley (all used).
