Bickleigh Reserves 2, Sidmouth Town Reserves 1 Sidmouth can feel a little hard done by after returning from high flying Bickleigh empty handed after they lost to a last minute goal.

In a highly entertaining game both teams played some attractive football and were creating chances. Sadly it was the hosts who scored and went in one up at the interval.

Town were quickly into their stride after the break, working very hard against the hosts, stopping most of their attacks.

At the other end of the pitch they were finding gaps and as the game wore on they could sense an opening.

Will Jenkins was introduced from the bench and within four minutes had made his mark!

The substitute’s first attempt was blocked, but he reacted quicker than the defenders to thump the ball home. That looked as if it had secured what would have been a richly deserved share of the spoils for the Vikings.

However, in the final minute a fortuitous punt forward took a lucky bounce and the forward rounded the keeper and slotted home leaving the visitors devastated.

Vikings boss Nick Ogden was full of praise for his troops. He said: “No disrespect to the lads we had to play, but I was expecting a very tough afternoon, bearing in mind only three weeks previously the same outfit too us to us to the cleaners at Manstone Road. I have to echo Paddy’s comments (1st team boss Paddy Thomas) that once again we have shown guts and spirit in abundance and what we may have lacked in quality we more than made up for in work-rate. I can’t speak highly enough of every single one of them they are a credit to this great club.”

Constantin Rusu shaded the Man of the Match, but it was a performance that saw every one of the Town players make a telling contribution.
