Sidmouth Town head for previously unchartered waters tomorrow when they venture to South Devon to play Kingsteignton in the Throgmorton Vending Devon Premier Cup.

The Vikings will travel in buoyant mood after last weekend’s 7-2 Manstone Lane mauling of Liverton United.

Town boss Josh Stunell is looking forward to the game and says: “It’s very much a case of the unknown for us. We know precious little about them aside of I gather they have a small home pitch. If that’s the case it may well suit us. We’ll be giving young Tyler Wellman a start in central midfield after his terrific performance in the Reserves last Saturday.”

Stunell continued: “The on-going development of our youngsters is something to behold right now. They are making such strides. We saw last Saturday what they can offer, particularly when the team, as a unit, is playing well. Connor Swingler is a classic example. He’s such a willing learner. I have been very impressed with how he is clearly listening to what we are both asking of him and indeed getting him to do in terms of team play.”

A final word on the game at Kingsteignton, Stunell said: “We go there very much as the ‘big fish’ given their South Devon League status and so it’s a case of looking to a number on them, something we are very capable of doing as long as we do not allow any form of complacency to come into play!”
