There’s an element of Jekyll and Hyde about Sidmouth Town this season.

That fact is born out of the current results sequence which has seen the side win then lose on no fewer than four occasions this season!

Following Saturday’s superb 4-1 home win over Newton Abbot Spurs the team travelled to Mid Devon for a match under the Crediton United floodlights and suffered a 5-0 drubbing!

The final score was not something then neutral spectator might have foreseen during the bright start made by the Vikings.

Ash Small got the better of his full back to raid down the wing almost at will but, despite opening the home defence a number of times a finish could not be found.

The home side, having ridden their luck for much of the first period, began to grow in confidence and they punished a pair of defensive clangers from Town, the second when they dispossessed Tony Cox who had attempted to dribble his way forward from the full-back berth!

A 2-0 half-time deficit was harsh on Town, but they had been the masters of their own downfall! After the break a succession of errors and a collectively poor performance allowed the home side to add three further goals to condemn the Vikings to a big, and embarrassing defeat.

If the current sequence of results is to be continued then the Manstone Lane faithful can expect to see their side defeat visiting Appledore on Saturday (3pm).

The North Devon side have played just one away game so far, winning 2-1 at Okehampton.
