Sidmouth Raiders Under-12s played twice over the weekend, each time coming up against one of the section’s top two teams.

First up they met visiting Whipton who looked sharper on the ball and raced into a three goal lead by half-time.

After the break the Raiders came back well showing their renowned fighting spirit.

Ben Goodier provided the assist for a Thomas Moore goal to reduce the arrears. Whipton soon restored their three goal lead, but the Raiders continued to look lively. They almost got a second when a Max Peacock cross was met by Luke Spiller who saw the keeper make a fine save. Spiller was soon on the score sheet, pouncing on a poor clearance.

Some fine defending, particularly from Thomas Burhop and Jed De Meynier restricted the Whipton scoring opportunities but they did bag a fifth late on.

The following day the Raiders entertained Tiverton and began brightly, but found the Mid Devon’s defence difficult to break down. Tivvy opened the scoring with a shot that gave Raiders keeper Oran Bramble no chance and then they added two more.

A Luke Spiller cross was tucked away by Louis Adey, but Tivvy added a couple more to take a 6-1 lead into the break.

The second half was a very different story! Raiders looked a yard quicker and Spiller and Aey again combined net a second. With Ben Goodier and Thomas Moore linking well in midfield it was no surprise when Raiders bagged a third when a Max Peacock run and cross was put away by Spiller.

With time running out Goodier completed a fine performance with the fourth Raiders goal. The Raiders coach was keen post match to praise all his players for their commitment and effort over both matches.
