Sidmouth Town Junior 7, Honiton 1 Sidmouth Town Under-13s were too strong for Honiton.

At full-time there was still a feeling of frustration owing to the number of gilt-edged chances that were spurned by the Vikings!

Some of the passing was a joy to watch, but sadly, all too often, the finish did not match the approach!

The opening goal was an own goal, but owed much to a fine strike from Jack Miller who then doubled his side’s lead after good play involving Ben Goodier and Tom Moore. Goodier and Moore had a huge influence on proceedings from central midfield throughout the contest, linking up particularly well with Matt Salter on the left.

With the Sidmouth coaching team asking why Will Ashby had gone out of position for a corner, he promptly shut them up by poking the ball home for Sidmouth’s third! The final goal before the break was scored by Jay Harris who followed up a Salter shot that was initially saved by the keeper.

In the second half, despite a change of formation, Sidmouth continued to dominate the contest. Miller scored his second before Honiton netted a consolation.

The Vikings returned to the front foot and began to fashion countless chances primarily through Luke Spiller, Louis Spalding and Ben Goodier before Man of the Match Goodier and Moore popped in the final two goals.

A fifth win in six league games leaves the team sitting third in Division Two with their goal count now an impressive 58! Tomorrow they entertain Pinhoe Sharks.
