Sidmouth Under-11s hosted a well-drilled Topsham on Sunday who turned up with plenty of players allowing two concurrent games to be played.

In the first game the Tops made a lightning-quick start with their fleet-footed winger racing over three times! That set the tone for a brace of Topsham wins, but the Sidmouth players were committed throughout. There was some most effective rucking from Lawrance Walker and Charlie Roberts while Finn Hobday, Ryan Cousins and Ben Fisher made an impact throughout both games. Harry Baker continued to show improvement and there was an excellent debt from Ewan Badcock.

On the second pitch Sidmouth were under pressure from the start with Topsham scoring a quick try. Once again this set the tone for a Tops win, but again there were encouraging performances in the Sidmouth ranks, most notably the tackling from Ollie Bond while Freddie Roberts and Sam Cole constantly tried to push through the opposition.

When the teams swapped to play the other Topsham team, it was time to reset the dial and get stuck in. The well drilled Topsham team scored the first try showing ball passing and using the width of the pitch. Tom Fletcher and Louis Cornick has chances to have a run at the opposition, but were quickly closed down and put under pressure. The Sidmouth boys kept at the task and showed resilience in their defending with Will carrying the ball well when given a little space. At the half time break Sidmouth were two scores down, and came back onto the pitch to settle the score. The Topsham team again rotated some players and set off at pace scoring their third try of the game. It was in the final third of the game that Sidmouth pinned the opposition into their own half and kept on some pressure, an unlucky knock on robbed them of a consolation try in the final minutes.
