Sidmouth Under-13s were beaten 17-7 by Withycombe, writes Craig Morgan.
The Green army have faced a tough couple of opening matches recently, meeting stiff opposition during all early fixtures.
Having ‘rocked up’ straight off the beach this season the lads were stunned into the reality of big pitches, burning lungs and hard ground. But fortunately, with a revamped coaching team in place, the boys have responded brilliantly to some technical coaching and hard graft.
Amongst many positives fro the game for Sidmouth to take were the game were the work in the serum and ruck. The forwards worked hard and new recruit Joe Elsworth stormed through to be the best player on the pitch with an uncompromising tackling display in defence and scoring the lone Sidmouth try.
The three-quarters are beginning to click and carried a threat in every attack. Several new recruits are settling in well and things are looking promising this season.
