Sidmouth Under-13s went down 17-10 when they travelled to face Exeter Chiefs.

In the first half Sidmouth were forced to contend with an onslaught of hard charging ‘extra-large’ opposition players intent on battering their way over the Sidmouth line!

However, they did not have it all their own way as Sidmouth showed some terrific commitment in defence to limit them to just two tries.

The Sidmouth scrum again proved staunch and all who feature in it must be heartily congratulated on technique and effort.

The new pairing of Bernhardt and Morgan, at scrum half and first five eights, spluttered into action, but once they found a rhythm it was all very positive.

After the break it was a different story with Sidmouth fielding a new front five and they began to gain ground.

New recruit, Andy Donovan, took the game to the Chiefs and ripped into their now flimsy forward effort and was rightly aggrieved not to have been awarded his first.

Max Dix proved, once again, to be a thorn in Exeter’s side and was targeted by the blacks as a ‘must stop’ player!

There was further joy for Sidmouth when the power of Elsworth came to the fore prior to Morgan scoring a try.

There was still time for the Chiefs to bag one more and had the match official not been unsighted Sidmouth would also have had another score that their contribution to a cracking game surely deserved.
