Sidmouth Under-13s are officially the best team in their age group in the county.

The honour of that particular title comes after they defeated Yelverton in the final last Friday.

Like all the other rounds in the competition this season Sidmouth were drawn away, but once again they took it in their stride as they comfortably claimed a nine wicket win.

After winning the toss in the county final Sidmouth chose to bowl first and all five of their bowlers,Lilly Goodier,Thomas Burhop,Jordan Fowler,Thomas Simmons And Oliver Pugsley, delivered good line and length as Yelverton were restricted to a total of 79-7 with three of the wickets being run-outs! Fowler, Adey and Pugsley were the fielders responsible for the run outs.

The Sidmouth reply was led superbly by Thomas Moore who retired after reaching 30. Louis Morrison was the one wicket to fall as he fell to a leg before wicket decision with 27 to his name.

The not out batsmen as the win was confirmed were Thomas Simmons (4) and Andrew Donovan (7).

The Sidmouth route to the county final had seen them overcome Ottery St Mary, Thorverton, Whimple and North Devon before the Yelverton success.

Tonight (Friday) they are in action in Bristol in the last 16 of the competition.

The team have also claimed the Bradleys East Devon Under-13 League title, that is the third year running that this particular team has claimed an age group divisional trophy.

With just a couple of outstanding matches to be played in their league campaign they currently sit with a perfect played nine and won nine record so far!
