Sidmouth 3, West Exe 2 Sidmouth Under-15s were good value for the points in a well-contested Exeter and District Youth League game.
The team made a fluent start with Jacob Rowe and Tyler Wellman influential.
However, during the Exeter side’s first attack a mistake at the back gifted them a surprise lead.
Under-14 player Ben Gosse was getting a run-out playing a year up and he linked well with Jonny Dunn prior to the latter levelling.
Sidmouth took the lead with a crisp shot from Wellman and that took the side’s into the break with Sidmouth leading 2-1.
After the break Ed Doble increased the lead, but West Exe struck back with a second ten minutes from time.
As well as young Gosse impressing there was also a confident debut from another of the cub’s Under-14 players, Ollie Newton.
