Sidmouth 75, Bridport 12 After a slightly humbling defeat the previous week, Sidmouth Under-15s started this match with great intent, exemplified by Down’s crunching first tackle on Bridport’s largest player, writes Chris Robinson.

This match was perfect for Lau. His pace and aggression were too much for Bridport and the backs made sure he was running into space. Within ten minutes he had scored a hat-trick of tries.

Sidmouth’s fourth try was ‘text book’ perfect!

From the lineout Robinson cleaned up and passed it out to his backs. It went through five pairs of hands then Innes-Kruger on the loop gave it to Smith, who ran in to score the first of his hat trick. Allen, who converted five of Sidmouth’s 12 tries, had a terrific match and his link work lead to try number six, a deserved one for Down. The seventh try was Sidmouth’s best. All the running was direct and the passing through seven pairs of hands was exemplary and when Unsworth dived over to score there were four more players in support – a true team effort.

The second half saw more of the same. Smith scored two more and Lau one more before being substituted. Hill powered over for one and Johnson-Graves deservedly got on the score sheet too. It was his pressure on his fellow centre that allowed Innes-Kruger to wrap up the scoring for Sidmouth. Hughes as captain must have been very satisfied with his team’s effort. This match was perfect for Lau.
