Sidmouth Under-16s were 50-17 victors when they hosted Totnes in a Blackmore friendly.

In stark contrast to the outing seven days before, the young Chiefs made a bright start and quickly notched a brace of sweeping tries from Mead coming from percentage forward play; tackling well, keeping possession, setting and building from the centre. The pervasive Pearson followed in shortly with two more as Sidmouth forwards dominated the scrum. Totnes concluded the half respectfully with a well worked try, but Sidmouth trooped off with a 24-5 lead.

After the break powerful possession play from Lamprill was rewarded with a deserved try as Sidmouth maintained their form to start the second half. Improved supporting play and movement to the backs enabled Woodruff to secure a well worked try on the left only to be quickly followed by a Totnes conversion.

All the Sidmouth players look to have stepped up a gear this year and none more so than Perez (O) who had an outstanding all round performance and was justly rewarded with a well crafted try.

Mead ran in an excellent territory kick from Harris who made some superb conversions in testing wind conditions. A change in team structure and a couple of late lapses in concentration allowed Totnes to squeeze a late try to end an otherwise excellent team effort from Sidmouth.
