Sidmouth Under-8s entertained Topsham at Sidford

Wall is day’s star for the Under-8s

Sidmouth Under-8s find Topsham a tough nut to crack!

Sidmouth Under-8s entertained Topsham at Sidford

With each club having 21 players on duty they were split into three teams with a total of nine matches played.

Topsham proved to be well-drilled with their powerful defence nailed a stream of turn overs by repeatedly getting the seven tags needed and then executed their attack moves well to score some deserved tries. Sidmouth did give a good account of themselves in all matches with the eventual outcome being two wins for Sidmouth, five successes for Topsham and two of the matches finishing all square.

Sam Smart and Noah Clifton led the charge for one of the teams while Will Swales recovered speedily from being run over by one of Topsham’s bigger players!

Jack Bell backed up his player of day award from the week before with another great display and, although Joseph Hooper and Tyler Jackson worked hard, the defence and jinking runs, which led to at least half a dozen tries, meant that Isaac Wall was the deserving winner of the Player of the Day award.

Special thanks to Jim Swales and all the parents who helped with the catering and also to Daniel Russell for stepping in to help coach.
