Sidmouth Under-8s entertained Cullompton at Sidford on Remembrance Sunday morning.

All present stood to observe the minutes’ silence at 11am.

On duty for Sidmouth were; Oliver Marsh, Toby Sandford, Taylor Whitehead, Ned Coles, Luca Manning, Zac and Luca Arver.

The visitors started with the ball and went over the line very easily. Sidmouth took the restart and through some great side stepping moves Zac Arver went over for the first of his two tries in the half.

Cully came back with two further tries but, in general, the ball was going towards the Cully line as Sidmouth ran in six further tries to lead 35-15 at the break.

Great running by Oliver Marsh saw him score three tires whilst there were single scores for Toby Sandford and Luca Arver .

After the break the scoring slowed down, though Luca Manning and Toby Sandford picked up a try each.

Even with the cheering of celebrity Kirstie Allsopp on the sidelines, Cully couldn’t pull back and the match finished with Sidmouth winning 45-30.

The second game saw Cully start with the ball, but it was lost forward when the player went to ground. Sidmouth were quick to react and Oliver Marsh promptly ran The game was riddled with plenty of mistakes by both teams, but Sidmouth scored a second try with Marsh again the scorer before sprint finishes by Ned Coles and Toby Sandford, leaving Sidmouth 20-5 to the good at half-time.

Once again the second half saw a lower try count, but there was plenty of amazing footwork on view!

One of the main deliverers of such side stepping was Luca Arver who scored a brace of tries as Sidmouth secured a 30-10 win.

Cullompton were great competition and pushed Sidmouth all the way. Well done to all the boys and the support from the sidelines.
