Sidmouth Under-9s Raiders and Warriors found themselves in their first ever Cup Matches on a wet Saturday morning at St John’s School last week.
The Warrior’s were up against a determined Moors side, but it was the home team who struck first with a well rehearsed training ground manoeuvre that saw Ben Elsom score.
After the break the team performance was top class. Finlay Snape was outstanding at the heart the defence and rightly picked up the Man of the Match award whilst young Jamie Pitter scored two similar excellent goals to seal a fine 3-0 success.
The Raiders entertained a St Martin’s team who raced into a two-goal lead.
However, the Raiders were competitive and managed to halve the deficit before half-time through Michal Bielawski. The second half saw the Raiders take the initiative! William Pulman, back from injury, marked his return with a brace of goals and set up another as Raiders closed out a 4-3 victory. Toby Brewster was named the Man of the Match, but this was another fine all-round performance.
