Sidmouth Warriors and Raiders Under-9s travelled to Exeter for their latest Exeter and District Youth League games.

Warriors started their morning with a game against City Raiders and the two sides played out a closely fought goalless first half in which Callum French excelled with his midfield marshalling.

In the second half, following some changes, the Warriors increased the pressure and Dev Nair was able to find the back of the net with a deft finish. Thanks to some excellent inter-play between Charley Turley and Man of the Match Ben Elsom, Warriors added another goal late on and were able to see out the match comfortably.

In their second game against Whipton Youth, Warriors had to battle hard and, despite several attempts on goal, there was little between the two teams.

In the second half a solid performance from Jake Paget and a magnificent volley into the roof of the net from Ben Elsom put the Warriors ahead. But it was keeper Antony Nita who secured the victory with an excellent double save and deservedly won his Man of the Match award for yet another clean sheet.

Sidmouth Raiders lined up against a hard working Whipton Youth in their opening game, and, in a flowing end-to-end first half, it was the Raiders who held the advantage, thanks to goals from Michal Bielawski and Herbie Isherwood, the latter scoring his first for the club.

The second half saw the Raiders push on and take control of the match with a fantastic all-round performance from Man of the Match Isherwood who also scored a second time to complete the scoring.

In their second match Sidmouth Raiders were slow off the mark against City Raiders slipping to a first half two goal deficit. The second half saw Sidmouth much improved with Man of the Match William Pulman shoring up the defence and the rest of the team creating numerous good chances in front of goal, but unfortunately unable to make them count.
