Sidmouth Warriors 5, Honiton Devils 3 Sidmouth Warriors proved more than up to the task when they played their latest top-of-the-table match.

Fittingly for such an occasion – an East Devon derby – the young Warriors chose the day to serve up their finest all-round performance of the season to date!

What’s more they claimed all three points after shipping the first goal! The loss of that early goal to a good Honiton side seemed only to galvanise the Warriors whose work rate did not drop for one of the 60 minutes of the contest.

There was real drive and determination in this performance and the win was thoroughly merited. Every player stepped up to the challenge.

The Man of the Match award went to Stan Richardson whose dynamic wing-play brought back memories of Liverpool and England legend John Barnes (this for the Warriors coach Justin Ashby) and also memories of the late, great Tom Finney ( for Warriors coach Merv).

The main beneficiary of the Richardson wing wizardry was Joe Ashby who bagged himself a hat-trick.

The other two Warriors goals were scored by Jed Ionov-Flint and Brad Hill.
