Sidmouth Warriors Under-12s shared six goals with hosts Pink Panthers in an enthralling Exeter and District Youth League meeting.
Warriors led three times in the contest, but were pegged back each time! Tim Goody scored all three of the Warriors goals and also had the ball in the net a fourth time late on – but a flag was raised for off-side and the ‘goal’ was chalked off!
However, this was anything but a one-man show as each and everyone of the Warriors’ team playing Exeter put in a shift – and a half!
The Goody hat-trick goal arrived after a stunning strike from the halfway line by defensive sweeper Benedict Teague! The ball cannoned back off the crossbar to Goody who calmly tucked it away.
Warriors’ coach Justin Ashby said: “This wonderful match served as a reminder as to why we’re all involved in Devon junior football! Two skilful teams played out a thrilling contest in a competitive yet relaxed and sporting atmosphere. The points were shared, but junior football was the winner.”
