Sidmouth Warriors Under-13s wrapped up their season’s action with back to back victories against Twyford Spartans and Cullompton Rangers.

First up, Warriors entertained Twyford Spartans and a real pleasure for both sets of players was that the match was played out on the lush green turf of the Sidmouth Town first team pitch at Manstone Lane.

The first half saw Warriors come under pressure from the Tiverton-based side, but the defence played exceptionally well to keep them at arms length.

The deadlock was broken when Thomas Mead rifled home a free-kick to take Warriors into half-time with a 1-0 lead.

After the break Zak Jabri and Jack Howe combined well to cause a number of problems for the opposition defence and, from one raid, Howe applied a slick finish to seal a deserved 2-0 success.

The final league outing of the season saw Warriors travel to the home of Cullompton Rangers.

Warriors dominated long periods of the contest and took the lead with a terrific strike from George Gelling.

The home team were a threat though, and it needed some excellent saves from Warriors’ glovesman Mark Rogers to deny them a way back into the game.

The home side did eventually level things up early in the second half.

However, Warriors were soon back onto the front foot and it was no more than they deserved when the lively duo of Zak Jabri and George Gelling combined for young Gelling to win the game 2-1 with his 30th goal of the season.
