Sidmouth Warriors Under-8s enjoyed an unbeaten morning when they played their latest Exeter and District Youth League matches.

First up they shared four goals with Exeter Panthers in a contest that saw them make a slow start. That made for some defending and Dominic Benattar starred in front of the very safe hands of goalkeeper Haiden Clapp. The opening goal arrived after a fine through ball from James Plowden that got Lucas O’Connor on his way and he drove the ball home. The Exeter side hit back with a quick-fire brace, but Warriors were not to be denied and when Reece Hext did well to win a corner, Alistair Mournery curled the set-piece delivery into the net with a goal straight off the practise ground!

Next up against Pink Panthers, Lucas O’Connor fired Warriors ahead with his 12th goal of the season. The lead was doubled by James Plowden to leave the side 2-0 up at half-time.

After the break Riley Pugsley came off the bench to continue his impressive goal scoring form this season with a slick hat-trick that sees him into double figures for goals this term.

Warriors coach Andrew O’Connor said: “It was a solid team performance with great work from Alistair Mournery and well disciplined displays from Scott Monro-Higgs and Haiden Clapp .
