The format last week for the latest Winter League meeting at Sidmouth was Texas Scramble, in teams of three with a mandatory four drives per player to be taken, writes Hugh Dorliac.

Burning up the course this time were Mark Thomas, Neil Holland and Martin Crockett, finally eschewing his shorts for more sensible trousers befitting the weather, who recorded a winning score of 53.2.

A mere 1.6 points behind, in second place, were Lee Wenham, Simon Emerson and Jim Anderton. Matt Bavington, John Eaton and Sean Murphy came third with 55.2.

This week the format was a three-ball medal with two to count played out in crisp, but dry conditions.

Sean Murphy featured again, but this time in first place with team mates Stephen Channing and Jonathan Lee, posting an excellent 119, some 13 shots better than par. In second place were Malcolm Willoughby, Jerry Russell and Matt Bavington on 125 with Geoff Lory, Mark Thomas and Hugh Dorliac in third with 128.
