Sidmouth Town youngster Jamie Newbery played his part in the Devon Under-18 side success over Cornwall.
The game, played at the Newton Abbott home of the Devon FA, saw the Duchy beaten by the odd goal in five.
Newberry, who played in central defence, nearly got himself on the score sheet when his 30-yard strike flew just wide of the upright.
