The ladies played a qualifying individual Stableford round for the Warren Crocus Salvers, writes Gill Paddon.
The Salvers were presented to the Devon County Ladies’ Golf Association in 1979 in memory of Mrs Sheelah Creasy. Players entered in two handicap divisions, Silver and bronze, and the two best players from each division go forward to play in the County Four Ball Betterball finals at Exeter Golf and Country Club in September
The conditions on the golf course were very tricky - wind assisted up to the ninth - but, on the back nine, it was a different kettle of fish.
The head wind was really holding the balls back and it was difficult to reach the greens in regulation. Even though the greens are in great condition, they were very slick and some of us just couldn’t buy a putt! .
Penny Lyne and Julie Lye won the Silver division and Sheila Skittrall and Dee Bridgwater won the Bronze division. Well done ladies and good luck in the finals!
