There was a soggy end to the wonderful 2016 Tolchards Devon league season that has seen Sidmouth crowned the top side in Devon for the sixth time in the last eight years.

Just 17.3 overs were played at Fortfield before the umpires deemed conditions – and the on-going forecast – to be so bad that the match against Exeter should be abandoned.

However, the seventeen-and-a-half overs did provide enough time for Kyle Brockley to stamp his mark on proceedings and he finished the season with all three of the Exeter wickets to fall. Each of the visiting batsmen to depart fell for four runs with one – Rob Holman – clean bowled by Brockley and the other two falling to catches by Henry Gater and Matt Hewer. Exeter were 100-3 when the players left the pitch for the final time this league season. Brockley finished with figures of 3-11 from four overs. The others to turn their arm over in the final game of the league campaign were; Zac Bess (0-22 in six), Joe Griffiths (0-31 in 4.3), Charlie Mile (0-26 in 2.3) and Zac Bess, who sent down three deliveries (0-5).
