SOHC 6th XI 1 Bridgwater D 2 A goal from Sam Cortinhas was not enough for the sixth team to get anything from the bottom-of-the-table clash against Bridgwater D at the weekend.
Both sides have been stuck on four points at the foot of the table for many weeks and it was clear that the teams were keen to get away from the bottom.
In a tightly fought encounter, attacks at either end were thwarted by committed defending and the match was all square at the interval.
Captain Nick Smale called for more of the same in the second half and it was SOHC that took the lead, when Cortinhas struck the ball from the edge of the area to give the home side the lead.
As the game progressed, play continued to flow from end to end and Bridgwater scored a breakaway goal to level the match and then claimed a winner late on to leave the home side firmly rooted to the bottom of the table with two games to go.
