SOHC ladies’ first eleven were involved in the only Central Division fixture played last Saturday.

It was a cracking encounter with no fewer than nine goals shared between home side Old Bristolians and SOHC with the hosts edging the contest 5-4.

That was a third win of the season for Old Bristolians who are almost safe from the drop. That fate looks set to befall SOHC who finds themselves, after five straight defeats, rock bottom, seven points from safety with just five matches to play. They are not in action this weekend, but are at Ottery St Mary next Saturday (February 27) hosting Bridgwater. The Somerset side sit second bottom and so it’s fair to call the next outing a ‘must win’ one for the ladies.

SOHC ladies’ second team had no game last weekend and are not back in Petroc Two action until the final Saturday of the month when they travel to the only team to sit below them in the table, basement side Dawlish. The teams shared six goals when they met at Ottery in November. Like the first eleven, this next game for the second eleven is of the ‘must win’ variety. All is certainly not lost for the second team as in their remaining six league outings they face both Dart and Newton Abbot who are two of the four teams locked in the battle for divisional survival.

The ladies’ third team drew 2-2 at Dart III and this weekend they journey to South Devon to meet a Teignmouth III side that edged them out 1-0 when they pair met at Sidmouth in early December. The third team have now drawn each of their last three games and are unbeaten this year with their last defeat being back on December 5. That remains their only loss since November 14!

The ladies’ fourth team went down 2-0 at Ottery against Okehampton last weekend. They have no game tomorrow and return to action on the final Saturday of the month with a trip to Torbay II.

Both the third and fourth team are involved in the battle to avoid a bottom two berth in Petroc Two. With bottom side Exe fifths a whopping 10 points adrift there are four teams scrapping to avoid a second bottom finish. That game this weekend for the thirds at Teign looks crucial for the South Devon side are one of those four teams – SOHC III, OOHC IV and Dart III make up the four strugglers.
