Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) ladies third XI were beaten 2-0 by a youthful – and mobile - Exe V side.
The first half ended with the games still seeking its first goal. Much of the SOHC clean sheet was down to some terrific team play by the defence. There was more of the same in the second half when the midfielder were creative and the forward players incisive, but the contest was settled by two breakaway goals and clinical finishes that saw the home side take the points. The difference on the day was the finishing – had SOHC had a finish to match their impressive work rate then the score line would surely have been very different!
