Wiscombe 2, SOHC Ladies 0 SOHC Ladiues endured a bright an dearly start for their trip to Winscombe for their latest Central League fixture, writes Sara Roberts.

After a scenic detour to find the correct venue, the ladies started the game still bleary eyed from the journey!

Their wake-up call came in the very first minute when the hosts scored following a goal mouth scramble.

The early blow drew a fine response from a youthful SOHC side that, despite the absence of three influential senior players, showed, passion, skill and determination in all areas of the field.

Jess Allen and Jodie Parsons produced fine defensive performances as did Emliy Ackland who deservedly picked up the Player of the Match award.

Ellie Marok chased and hassled persistently as did Annabelle Clay, Maisie Pritchard and Anna Kingsley.

It was a frustrating shift for the front runners as chances were at a premium throughout a close contest.

However, Sophie Jackson and Chrissie Jacobs displayed good movement and they did fashion a number of opportunities with slick inter-play.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Hayley Delasalle produced some fine saves to keep Frankie Elliott made an impressive debut, playing with a confidence beyond her years.

Where SOHC did struggler was with the bouncy pitch.

The goal that sealed victory for the home side arrived from a second half penalty corner.

Sidmouth and Ottery Ladies can be proud of a gritty performance in less than perfect circumstances and can go into this weekend’s fixture at home to Taw Valley with confidence.
