Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) men’s 5th team still have work to do to lift the South East Three title, but they remain in the box seat for the top honour after a 4-1 win at Bridgwater.

Keith Brown, Andrew Coley and Steve Ellison shared the goal scoring honours for SOHC.

Just a few weeks ago the fifth team were cruising towards the finish line with a huge lead, but a combination of points deduction and a team leaving the division leaves things much closer with SOHC holding a two-point lead over Isca E with both sides having two games to go.

The next two match days will define the fifth team’s season. A win on Saturday in their meeting with basement side East Devon at Sidmouth (1.30pm) would set them up for a ‘winner-takes-all’ meeting on the first Saturday of March against Isca E, who do not play this Saturday, but will have one game to play after the March 4 showdown with SOHC.
