Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) men’s B team went down 4-2 when they travelled to Bridgwater.
They made a superb start, going 1-0 up just minutes into the match thanks to a Peter Milmer far-post finish.
Boosted by the early goal, SOHC controlled the ball well and created some good openings, before conceding two goals in quick succession, one an unstoppable top-corner strike from a young opposition forward. Unfortunately, after the break, SOHC lost their way and found themselves 4-1 down, this despite enjoying good periods of possession of their own.
They did have the final say with Wilf Chun netting after finding space in the D before applying a cool finish.
On reflection, the difference between the teams on the day was in the finishing department; a better cutting edge for SOHC would surely have seen a different final score.
