With availability again an issue across Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) on the second Saturday of February, it means that the men’s third team could only field 10 players for their trip to Taunton CS A, where they slipped to a 3-0 defeat in a South East Two encounter.

Despite being a man down, SOHC gave as good as they got for large parts of the first half. They did fashion a couple of chances that went begging whilst, at the other end of the pitch, the home side netted twice to lead 2-0 at the interval.

After the break, the home side took a foothold in the contest and SOHC were forced to defend in numbers. They also faced a number of dangerous short corners, resulting in Peter Milmer being hit, first in the stomach and then in the head!

The home side added a third goal in the second half, but the final score of 3-0 was a tad harsh on SOHC, who had contributed much to a fine game.
