Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) men’s third team enjoyed a terrific victory when they edged out East Devon A 5-3.

East Devon began the stronger and it took a while for SOHC to find their shape, but once they did they became a force in the contest. A goal from Luke Tierney with a great deflection and then another from Dan Hart, who took the ball from the halfway and dribbled round their whole defence and then put the ball in the net, saw SOHC into a two goal lead. However, East Devon hit back and, when the sides went off for a break parity had been restored at 2-2.

Early in the second half East Devon’s comeback was completed as they took a 3-2 lead courtesy of a goal from a short corner.

Back came SOHC and another deflection from Luke Tierney, a lovely ball lifted over the goalkeeper from Dan Vincent and a goal from Tom Vanstone saw SOHC to a fully deserved victory.
