The Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) boy’s Under-16s were in action for the second time in this season’s national competition when they played Plymouth Marjons.

The game started very evenly with both teams having spells of possession and chances until 15 minutes from half-time when SOHC took charge, earning a number of short corners and creating chances. However, some excellent goalkeeping kept them at arms length and Marjons scored with a penalty corner seconds before the interval which they score to take a lead into half-time.

Early in the second half Marjons capitalised on a number of defensive errors and raced into a 4-0 lead. SOHC dug deep, and, to their credit, fought back well.

A superb back post deflection from Max Ward was followed by a goal for Max Moore, but, despite spending the final 10 minutes camped in the Marjons half, no further goals were forthcoming.

There were a number of impressive individual Ashok and Jasper at the back, George Mutter in midfield and Max Ward upfront, all doing well.
